How coincidental... my friend just showed this to me a couple of days ago and I think it might be the coolest thing I have ever seen. I have so much respect for this guy's skill and patience. And awesomeness.
Yes, definitely an incredible accomplishment, this piece. What an undertaking. Reminds me of a more contemporary version of the kinds of drawing based films made by the famous south african artist William Kentridge, in which he uses addition and erasure (and the ongoing remnants of the process) to create tragic and very unexpected narratives about his homeland. Google him or youtube search him, you'll see what I mean.
